Antique Pottery Vase Buncheong Gray with Inlaid Dragon Design
Item number: 1180
A dragon flying through clouds is captured in the traditional inlaying technique to decorate this buncheong antique pottery vase, whose body is more curvaceous than celadon prunus vases. With the mouth wide open and the tongue rolling out, the dragon is depicted as a comical character like one in a folk painting. The main motif of the dragon is highlighted by two subordinate designs inlaid with white slip, a floral band (yeouidumun) around the shoulder and a palm leaf design (pachomun) at the lower part. With a small mouth, broad shoulder and the body gradually slimming down towards the foot, this prunus vase features dramatic curves that perfectly match the dynamic movement of the dragon. Read More
