Yi Ji-Young is considered as a Gayageum virtuoso who harmonizes sensibility and rationality and has gained a unique status through her excellent aesthetic interpretation while creating a new performance style for the contemporary Gayageum music. She has made a lot of effort to the preservation of traditional music and also to the promotion of contemporary music by leading a number of contemporary music groups. Her diverse activities as a Gayageum player include lecturing at academic workshops in more than ten countries throughout the US, Europe and Asia enhancing the globalization of Korean traditional music.
