Traditionally, a buncheong ware with an impressed design accompanies one or more inlaid designs. This particular buncheong pottery ginger jar is decorated with impressed chrysanthemum and inlaid lotus designs. The design of the lotus, a symbol of Buddha's seat as well as the Western Paradise where Buddha resides, was used extensively for architecture, houseware and personal ornaments.
